MLK Blog

The number of Black representatives in congress has almost doubled from 21 in 1985 to 39 in 2003. Also the amount of Blacks elected to state and local offices has increased about 9 fold. An important thing is that the percentage of Black voters is about equal to Whites.
One bad thing is that there have only been 2 Black senators from 1985 to 2003. Another bad thing is that even though a increased number of Blacks are elected to state and local offices, there are still some states that don’t have any Black elected officials.
One suggestion I could make to help MLKj’s “dream” come true is to have many more Blacks running for office at all the levels.
